Octopus Energy becomes Sustainability Partner of Valencia CF
This alliance will launch multiple joint initiatives to promote renewable energies
Valencia CF have reached an agreement for Octopus Energy to become the club's new Sustainability Partner. Through this three-year alliance, both parties will seek to bring renewable energies closer to people, starting with the promotion of sustainability at the Ciudad Deportiva -where Octopus Energy has already begun the installation of 328 solar panels that will allow 30% solar energy self-consumption.
The solar self-consumption system, which will be fully running at the end of June, will generate more than 260,000 kWh annually. The photovoltaic modules will be installed on roofs including the gym, dressing rooms and maintenance area of the Ciudad Deportiva.
Both entities will launch multiple initiatives over the coming months, with the aim of advancing their commitment to accelerating energy transition. For this purpose, Octopus Energy have also installed new charging points for electric vehicles, and will supply 100% renewable electricity to the training facility when it needs to connect to the grid. It is an example of the sustainable future that the club and Octopus Energy are committed to creating.
As a Sustainability Partner, Octopus Energy will work with Valencia CF over the next three years to extend the knowledge and use of renewable energies beyond sport. The club's high profile allows for visible actions that contribute to making the energy transition a reality, inspiring the community and encouraging people to be an active part of a more sustainable future, with the aim of reducing dependence on fossil fuels and running completely on renewable energy.
“This collaboration is another example of our great commitment to bringing renewable energy closer to people. By helping a club like Valencia CF to be more sustainable, we have achieved not only a tangible change in their use of renewable energy, but also an amplifying effect, using this success story to drive positive change in society,” explains Roberto Giner, CEO of Octopus Energy.
The energy company, which two years ago chose the city of Valencia for its headquarters in Spain, takes another step in its commitment to facilitate the energy transition and the implementation of projects with which to fight climate change, promoting sustainability in public and private entities.
